MVP Response Regarding Criminal Procedure Against Montenegrin Citizens in Kosovo

This is not a matter of the Ministry's discretionary decision, but an obligation to respect the rights of every citizen to privacy and to independently decide whether they wish to use their country's consular protection. Therefore, the Ministry cannot act solely based on requests from third parties or media information. Within its competencies, the Embassy has established communication with relevant institutions in Kosovo, international partners, legal representatives, and Montenegrin citizens themselves. Protecting the rights and interests of Montenegrin citizens abroad is a regular and daily responsibility of the Ministry and the diplomatic-consular network. Consular assistance and protection are provided daily to our citizens worldwide, without public promotion of these activities, as they are a professional, legal, and international legal obligation of the state towards its citizens. The Ministry will, as before, responsibly, professionally, and in accordance with international law continue to protect the rights and interests of all Montenegrin citizens, regardless of the circumstances they are in.
