Training Farmers in the Proper Use of Plant Protection Products – Municipality of Berane

Organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Directorate for Advisory Services in Plant Production, the Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Administration, and IPC Tehnopolis, another successful training session for agricultural producers on the proper use of plant protection products (PPPs) was held in Berane. During the full-day workshop, participants actively discussed numerous questions and uncertainties related to the use of PPPs. Several expert presentations were delivered on the following topics: proper handling and use of plant protection products; good agricultural practices; integrated pest management; risk-reduction measures; storage and handling of PPPs; first-aid measures; regulations and record-keeping; and equipment for applying PPPs. After completing the theoretical part of the training, the agricultural producers took a practical test, after which they were awarded certificates confirming successful completion of the specialist course. With the aim of establishing a sustainable agricultural system and aligning with EU legislation, the training seeks to raise awareness among all participants in the food production chain about the necessity of properly applying PPPs and adhering to the principles of good agricultural practice. Dr. Dragana Radunović, independent adviser at the Directorate for Advisory Services in Plant Production.
