Extension of deadline for registration of facilities for production, processing, and distribution of materials and items in contact with food

To enable uninterrupted compliance of business entities with food safety regulations, the deadline for submitting applications for registration of facilities engaged in the production, processing, and distribution of materials and items intended to come into contact with food is extended until the enforcement of the Regulation on registration of facilities for the production, processing, and distribution of materials and items in contact with food. The Food Safety Law stipulates that activities related to the production, processing, and distribution of materials and items intended to contact food can only be carried out in registered or approved facilities. Article 86 of the Food Safety Law requires entities involved in the business of materials and items intended to contact food, which produce or import such items into Montenegro and place them on the market, to submit an application for registration in the Register of registered facilities as per Article 43 of this law. Given that the drafting of the Regulation on registration of facilities is underway, which will specify the registration process, including application procedures and forms, the deadline for submitting applications is extended until the Regulation comes into force. After the Regulation becomes effective, business entities dealing with materials and items in contact with food will be required to submit a registration application on the prescribed form and provide the necessary documentation, in accordance with its provisions. Note: Activities related to the production, processing, and distribution of materials and items intended to contact food must be conducted in accordance with applicable food safety regulations and standards for materials and items in contact with food.
