Radulović: Readiness is built in advance, and protecting our sea is a shared responsibility

Today in Boka Kotorska, an international sea pollution response exercise was conducted, with the main goal of testing Montenegro's readiness to respond quickly, coordinated, and effectively in case of a serious sea pollution incident under real conditions. Minister of Maritime Affairs Filip Radulović stated that the participation of representatives from 25 countries, as well as the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA), gives special importance to the exercise, making Montenegro a place of significant international exchange of experience and knowledge in sea protection. Radulović emphasized that it is much more important to verify how our people, institutions, procedures, and communication systems work together when it is most needed. The exercise included coordination of relevant government bodies and operational services, as well as the engagement of maritime capacities, aiming to test and improve the overall response system in case of a sea pollution incident. Practical training and workshops, where experts exchange experiences and enhance their knowledge and operational capabilities, are also an important part of the program. Radulović highlighted that sea pollution knows no borders, which is why international cooperation, mutual trust, and joint readiness are crucial.
