Montenegro Participates in Regional Project to Strengthen Food Safety and Combat Food Fraud

Vladimir Đaković, Director of Montenegro’s Administration for Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Affairs, participated in the launch meeting of Project P114, “Strengthening Food Safety, Food Protection Against Deliberate Contamination, and Measures to Combat Food Fraud in Southeastern and Eastern Europe,” held on the 19th in Tbilisi. Tbilisi is also home to the Regional Secretariat of the European Union’s Centres of Excellence Initiative for reducing chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) risks, under which the project is being implemented. The meeting brought together national contact points for strategic coordination within the EU CBRN Centres of Excellence Initiative for Southeastern and Eastern Europe. Project P114 is funded by the European Union and implemented by Expertise France in partnership with the National School of Veterinary Services – French International Veterinary Service (ENSV-FVI), the University of Liège in Belgium, and the University of Donja Gorica in Montenegro. Its third component focuses on improving control systems throughout the food supply chain, following the “farm-to-fork” principle, while the fourth is dedicated to strengthening cross-border cooperation and establishing effective information-sharing mechanisms among partner countries. The activities are intended for food safety authorities, veterinary and phytosanitary services, customs and border authorities, laboratories, ministries, research and educational institutions, other participants in the food chain, and consumer associations.
