Berane: Search found and seized eight kilograms of cut tobacco, 1,400 handmade cigarettes, and 29 Diazepam tablets; criminal charges filed against the suspect

Officials of the Criminal Police Station of the Berane Security Department, taking measures to suppress illegal trade and acting on an order from the Basic Court in Berane, which was previously initiated, conducted a search of the family house and auxiliary facilities used by H.M. During the search, police officers found and seized about eight kilograms of cut tobacco, 1,400 handmade cigarettes, and 29 Diazepam tablets, for which the necessary accompanying documentation was not found. The state prosecutor in the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Berane was informed about the seized goods and tablets, and assessed that in this case, given that the person illegally possessed goods whose trade is restricted and controlled, significant elements of a criminal offense of illegal trade are present. Regarding the seized Diazepam tablets, the prosecutor in the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje was informed, who concluded that there are no elements of a criminal offense in this case, but rather a misdemeanor under the Law on Prevention of Drug Abuse. A misdemeanor report will be submitted to the competent Misdemeanor Court due to illegal possession of the tablets. Police officers continue activities aimed at discovering and prosecuting all forms of illegal trade and other unlawful behaviors to effectively protect citizens' safety.
