Starting from today, the implementation of the new Law on Free Access to Information begins

This was stated by the Minister of Public Administration, Mr. Marash Dukaj, on the occasion of the start of the implementation of the new Law on Free Access to Information. With the adoption of all subordinate acts, strengthening the capacities of the Agency for Personal Data Protection and Free Access to Information (AZLP), and training officials at the national level, conditions have been created for the efficient implementation of one of the key reform laws in the field of public administration. The legislative framework is aligned with the EU Open Data Directive 1024/2019. At the same time, budget funds have been secured for new AZLP inspectors, who will conduct direct supervision of law enforcement, while officials in state bodies have undergone training for the application of new legal solutions. The new solutions enable citizens to access information of public importance more efficiently, increase data availability, and promote more open work of institutions, while government bodies are held to higher standards of responsibility and significantly reduce space for administrative silence and potential abuse.
