Police Department Upgrades Border Police Sector Fleet – 23 New Official Vehicles Purchased

To enhance police operational capacities, increase mobility and readiness, and further strengthen technical and logistical equipment and modernization of the border security system, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has procured 23 new Škoda Karoq official vehicles, produced in 2025. The vehicles were purchased through a public procurement process and will be allocated to organizational units of the Border Police Sector to more effectively perform border surveillance, control, cross-border crime suppression, and respond swiftly to security challenges in border areas. In the context of European integration and Montenegro's future role as a member of the European Union, the importance of continuously strengthening border police capacities is emphasized, considering that Montenegro will adopt the role of guardian of the EU's external border as part of the unified European security system. Ongoing investments in equipment modernization and technical capacity building are key priorities for the Police Directorate and the Ministry of Internal Affairs in achieving European standards in border management. Strengthening the technical and logistical capacities of the Border Police Sector is part of continuous reform activities aimed at building a modern, efficient, and interoperable border security system in line with European standards and obligations undertaken by Montenegro on its EU accession path. The Police Directorate will continue, with the support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, to invest in human resources, technical equipment, and capacity modernization to enhance citizens' security and more effectively protect the state border and the future external borders of the European Union.
