Participation in the Western Balkans Digital Summit

Samir Orahovac, the former acting director of the Cybersecurity Agency, participated in the eighth Western Balkans Digital Summit. During a panel on cybersecurity and building a secure digital environment, he highlighted that Montenegro had taken significant steps to strengthen the legal and institutional framework in this area. He recalled that, within its remit, the Agency had launched expert oversight of the implementation of information security measures by key and important entities. “It is equally important for us to understand the challenges they face and provide support in improving their security and resilience to cyber threats,” Orahovac said. He stressed that Montenegro attaches great importance to cooperation with partners in the region, given that a secure and reliable digital space is a common interest of all Western Balkan countries. He identified further strengthening capacities and cyber resilience through professional oversight of the implementation of information security measures, improving coordination and operational cooperation with domestic and international partners in the event of cyberattacks, and raising awareness of the importance of information security as priorities for strengthening cybersecurity in Montenegro.
