Bjelopoljac suspected of illegal logging; criminal report filed for unauthorized felling of beech timber in state forest

Officials of the Bijelo Polje Department of Security, in accordance with the national priorities of the Police Directorate in combating environmental crime, in cooperation with the Forest Management and Hunting Administration and the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje, filed a criminal report against A.V. (22) from Bijelo Polje, suspected of committing the crime of illegal logging. The criminal report was filed at the order of the competent prosecutor. In 2023, in a state forest in Mušnica, Bijelo Polje municipality, he cut a certain amount of beech timber, causing material damage to the Forest Management and Hunting Administration of Montenegro, aiming to gain unlawful property benefits for himself. The criminal report was filed against this person through regular proceedings, following the prosecutor's instructions. Police officers continue to intensify activities in the fight against environmental crime, which is one of the national priorities, as well as activities to prevent illegal logging, detect and prosecute perpetrators, in order to preserve and protect Montenegro's natural resources.
