Contract Signed for Establishment of CENNA Center Worth 30 Million Euros
To establish the Center of Excellence, Montenegro receives a 15 million euro EU grant, matched by an equal amount of national co-financing. Montenegro has successfully applied for the first time within the Horizon Europe 'Teaming for Excellence' call and received an EU grant to establish the Center of Excellence for advanced environmental monitoring and nature-based solutions in protected areas of Montenegro - CENNA. Of this amount, 15 million euros is an EU grant, while another 15 million euros will be provided through co-financing by the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, and the Government of Montenegro. The significance of the project lies in the fact that, thanks to the CENNA project, Montenegro will attract more EU funds for science and innovation than in the entire period from 2007 onwards. For the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation and the Government of Montenegro, support for the CENNA project represents a clear strategic commitment to backing ideas capable of permanently improving the country's scientific, educational, and innovation systems. The establishment of the CENNA center also marks an important step in developing Montenegro's scientific and institutional capacities, fostering knowledge exchange and researcher mobility, as well as involving young scientists, students, and experts in contemporary European trends.
