Budget Surplus of Current Consumption and Revenues Above Plan Create Room for Development and New Investments
With budget revenues exceeding the plan and continued growth compared to last year, it is particularly significant that in the first half of the year a surplus of current consumption was achieved, meaning that current revenues fully covered the state's current obligations. At the same time, the budget deficit amounted to 1.3% of the estimated GDP, or even 141.9 million euros less than planned, further confirming the stability of public finances and responsible management of state finances. Budget revenues in the period January–June reached 1.437 billion euros, or 16.8% of the estimated gross domestic product, which is 114.3 million euros or 8.6% more than in the same period last year. Revenue from VAT reached 638.6 million euros, an increase of 36.6 million euros or 6.1%, while revenue from excise taxes increased by 4.5% to 180.7 million euros. The positive trend continued in June, when budget revenues reached 249.5 million euros, which is 23.6 million euros or 10.5% more than in the same month last year, with results above the monthly plan. Higher budget revenues, achieved surplus of current consumption, intensified public investments, and disciplined spending confirm that public finances remain stable and that the state has enough room to continue investments that contribute to further economic growth and improved citizens' living standards.
