Radević: Annual briefing held for defense delegates accredited in Montenegro

The annual briefing for defense delegates accredited in Montenegro was held today at the Ministry of Defense, with the participation of 22 delegates from allied and partner countries, as well as delegates from the European Union. State Secretary, Ms. Sandra Radević, emphasized that Montenegro remains committed to strengthening collective security and maintaining its status as a credible NATO member, which is confirmed by continuous increases in defense investments. Defense allocations this year amount to 2.2% of GDP, with nearly half of the budget allocated for the modernization of the Montenegrin Army and improving its capabilities, in accordance with NATO standards and priorities for strengthening European defense. Regarding European integration, Radević highlighted that membership in the European Union remains a strategic foreign policy priority for Montenegro, with a commitment to implementing necessary reforms and a goal for the country to become an EU member by 2028. During the briefing, representatives from the General Staff of the Montenegrin Army, the Directorate for Human Resources, and the Directorate for Logistics presented key results and plans in the areas of military education and training, participation in international missions, and modernization of defense capacities. The briefing was an opportunity for information exchange on the priorities of the Ministry of Defense and the Montenegrin Army, as well as for further enhancing cooperation with allies and partners.
