Minister of Defence Dragan Krapović met today with the outgoing Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Montenegro, Janina Hrebičková, thanking her for her dedication and significant contribution to strengthening the allied and friendly relations between the two countries, as well as advancing bilateral defence cooperation. Minister Krapović noted that substantial progress had been made in defence cooperation during Ambassador Hrebičková’s tenure, stating that the signing of the Agreement between the Government of Montenegro and the Government of the Czech Republic on cooperation in the field of defence established a solid legislative framework for further developing and concretising defence relations. He recalled that numerous high-level meetings and intensive political dialogue with Czech officials had created opportunities for developing new forms of cooperation and implementing joint projects, with the modernisation of weapons and equipment through products of the Czech defence industry high on the list of priorities. Speaking about European integration, the Government’s absolute priority, Krapović emphasised the importance of the Czech Republic’s continued support for Montenegro, particularly now that the country is entering the final phase of its accession negotiations with the European Union. Ambassador Hrebičková thanked Minister Krapović for the successful cooperation and his contribution to improving defence relations, assessing that the results achieved provide a solid foundation for their further strengthening. Hrebičková particularly welcomed Montenegro’s progress on its path towards the European Union, expressing her conviction that Montenegro can expect continued strong support from the Czech Republic in its further integration process.
