Ivanović participated in Ukraine – Southeast Europe Summit

Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović participated today in the Ukraine – Southeast Europe Summit held in Kyiv, where regional leaders and officials discussed strengthening European security, EU expansion, continued support for Ukraine, and regional cooperation. In his speech, Ivanović emphasized that Montenegro remains consistent in supporting Ukraine, highlighting that defending sovereignty, territorial integrity, and international law is a shared interest of European countries. The Summit adopted a Joint Declaration reaffirming unified support for Ukraine, reaffirming commitment to international law and UN Charter principles, supporting Ukraine's European path, and emphasizing the importance of strengthening regional security and ongoing efforts to establish a just and sustainable peace. On the sidelines of the Summit, Ivanović reiterated Montenegro's support for Ukraine's European perspective and EU enlargement policy, stating that a united Europe is the best guarantee of peace, stability, and prosperity. He also noted that Montenegro, once it becomes a full member of the EU, will strongly advocate for continued enlargement policies based on merit and free from administrative or political burdens. Along with Ivanović, participants included European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Albanian President Bajram Begaj, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, Moldovan President Maia Sandu, Romanian President Nikușor Dan, Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša, Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, North Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister Bekim Sali, and Bulgarian Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova, while Greek President Konstantinos Tasulas joined via video link.
