CSDD faces cybersecurity incident

VAS “Ceļu satiksmes drošības direkcija” (CSDD) informs that over the weekend, CSDD was subjected to a complex cyberattack, resulting in attackers partially gaining access to CSDD's IT system and unlawfully retrieving historical payment receipt data for services provided by CSDD, which also contained some personal data (personal code/registration). So far, the information indicates that the attack was targeted and involved prior preparation. There is a possibility that the data obtained as a result of the incident could be used for further targeted fraud attempts. Therefore, residents are advised to be especially vigilant when receiving emails, text messages, or other communications that appear to be sent on behalf of CSDD. In such cases, it is recommended to verify the authenticity of the message and check information at e.csdd.lv,” explains Varis Teivāns, Deputy Head of CERT.LV. The incident did not affect CSDD's in-person or electronic services, which continue to be provided as usual.
