During the weekend, 1,626 drivers were sanctioned, 74 deprived of liberty
In 2023, 42 traffic accidents were recorded on Montenegrin roads, with no fatalities. Six people sustained serious injuries, while 10 suffered minor injuries. Traffic police officers sanctioned 1,626 drivers for violations of the Road Traffic Safety Law. They filed 239 misdemeanor charges, issued 1,387 fines, and temporarily confiscated 16 license plates. Traffic police across Montenegro are actively working to increase safety for all road users through intensified patrols and the use of modern technical equipment and methods, including speed cameras, breathalyzers, drug tests, and drones. The goal of these activities is preventive action, detection, and sanctioning of violations that threaten traffic safety, as well as reducing the number of accidents with severe consequences.
