Ljubljana commemorates Montenegro Independence Day: Paying tribute to national heroes

On the occasion of Montenegro's Independence Day, the Embassy of Montenegro in Slovenia organized a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of National Heroes in Ljubljana, in accordance with longstanding tradition. The event was attended by Montenegro's representatives in Slovenia, including Sanja Radulović, advisor Miloš Vučinić, second secretary Jelena Vuković, and leaders of Montenegrin associations in Slovenia such as Nenad Martinović, Čedo Đukanović, Šekija Agović, Veselin Lakić, Halim Bektešević, and Miloš Nenezić. Support for the event was provided by the Union of Fighters for the Values of the People's Liberation War of Slovenia, represented by Secretary General Manja Konkolič and Vice President Meta Radulović. Radulović emphasized the historical significance of July 13, both in the context of Montenegro's international recognition at the Berlin Congress of 1878 and the nationwide uprising. She highlighted that laying a wreath is a gesture of deep respect for tradition and heroes, as well as a lasting commitment to preserving anti-fascist values embedded in Montenegrin society's foundations. During her speech, she also pointed out that Montenegro and Slovenia shared a common historical struggle and that their joint anti-fascist values form a strong basis for the enduring connection between the two countries.
