Dragana Radoman Receives the “Prosvjetitelj” Teaching Award
Dragana Radoman, an English teacher at the “Milija Nikčević” public primary school in Nikšić, has received the “Prosvjetitelj 2026” teaching award from the Alek Kavčić Foundation. “This is precisely what a teacher does every day: in a classroom in a big city and in a small rural school, before thirty students or before three.” She emphasized that the award also belongs to all the semifinalists, as well as to the hundreds of teachers who did not apply but do the same work every day. “This requires better working conditions, quality education and teacher training, as well as public recognition,” the state secretary said. She thanked the Alek Kavčić Foundation for bringing an award to Montenegro that connects Montenegrin teachers with the Global Teacher Prize and shows that they belong on the world map of excellence. Addressing the finalists, Ćalasan said: “You won on the day a student first believed, because of you, that they could.” Prof. Dr. Aleksandar Kavčić, founder of the Alek Kavčić Foundation; Academician Predrag Miranović, CANU secretary-general and president of the Honorary Jury; and Prof. also addressed those present at the ceremony.
