Social and Emotional Skills in Focus at the “My Values and Virtues” Training
The Institute for Education organised the training “My Values and Virtues – A Programme for Developing Children’s and Adolescents’ Social and Emotional Skills”, aimed at empowering educators to support the holistic development of children and young people. During the two-day training, participants from Podgorica, Bar and Kolašin had the opportunity to learn about the programme, methods and approaches that can contribute to developing students’ important social and emotional skills through theoretical and practical work. The training covered topics including guiding the development of students’ social and emotional skills, fostering these skills through regular teaching, different teaching and learning methods, and the roles and styles of teachers as important factors in the learning process. “I would recommend this training to everyone because it gives us the opportunity to apply what we have learned in our work with students,” said Snežana Lučić, a primary school teacher at Boško Radulović Primary School. She particularly highlighted the importance of methods that can be directly applied in the classroom: “Very interesting methods for working with students were presented during the training. I had wanted to attend this training for a long time because I believe it is very important for educators and that what we learned can be directly applied in our work.” The training was delivered by Ljiljana Ivanović, Biljana Ćulafić and Sava Kovačević. Through the “My Values and Virtues” programme, efforts continue to empower educators to create a stimulating and safe school environment in which, alongside knowledge, empathy, cooperation, self-confidence, responsibility, respect and other important life skills are developed.
