Bijelo Polje: Arrest of a Politically Interesting Person Suspected of Extortion Attempt and Domestic Violence
Police officers from the Regional Security Center 'Sjever', Bijelo Polje Security Department, in cooperation with Berane Security Department officers, responded quickly and took operational–tactical measures and actions, in coordination with the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Bijelo Polje. They detained a person of operational interest suspected of domestic violence and attempted extortion. Through coordinated police and prosecutor actions, and after implementing operational measures, prosecutor's order led to the detention of A.O. (37) from Bijelo Polje, due to reasonable suspicion of committing attempted extortion combined with domestic violence, affecting three individuals. It is suspected that the individual, from the victim—his ex-wife's father—threatening his life and body, demanded a sum of 20,000 euros, and used physical force against him. He also issued serious threats to his ex-wife and her mother. After operational measures, the police located the suspect in Berane municipality, and he was detained by police in Bijelo Polje. The suspect will be prosecuted with a criminal report before the competent prosecutor's office within the legally prescribed period.
