Data protection in electoral processes discussed at a working meeting in Telenești
On June 17, 2026, the National Center for Personal Data Protection (CNPDCP) participated in an interinstitutional working meeting organized by the Electoral Council of the Telenești electoral district no. 34, with the participation of representatives from local public authorities and decentralized and deconcentrated services from the district. One of the central topics on the agenda concerned the preparation and updating of electoral lists in compliance with data protection requirements, as well as aspects related to the processing of voters' data in the exercise of duties by registrars of the State Voter Register and electoral officials. Practical issues regarding ensuring the legality of data processing, respecting confidentiality and security principles, and measures to prevent unauthorized access to information contained in electoral lists were also addressed. The event was attended by 55 representatives of local public authorities, decentralized and deconcentrated services, and other actors involved in local electoral processes. Through participation in such activities, CNPDCP reaffirms its commitment to support public authorities in the proper application of personal data protection legislation and to contribute to strengthening an institutional culture based on respect for individuals' rights and freedoms.
