How to Talk to Children About Crises and Worries

Several organizations have partnered with the Danish Emergency Management Agency to help adults have difficult conversations with children. In a turbulent world where we are daily confronted with images and stories of war, natural disasters, accidents, and climate crises, everyone can become worried. In collaboration with experts from Børns Vilkår, Red Barnet, and the Red Cross, the agency has developed seven good advice points on how to help children and young people find calm amidst the information they encounter on social media, in the schoolyard, or elsewhere. Children and young people also face these issues at school and on social media, which can cause worries that may affect their well-being. I am pleased that, together with Børns Vilkår, Red Barnet, and the Red Cross, we have now gathered concrete advice on how to have difficult conversations with children and young people,” says Director of the Danish Emergency Management Agency, Laila Reenberg.
