Bečić: The Future Police Studies Faculty will bear the name of Slavoljub Šćekić

Ahead of the 21st anniversary of the murder of police inspector Slavoljub Šćekić, a reception was organized in the Government of Montenegro for Slavoljub's sister, Mrs. Slavica Šćekić. Organized by Aleksa Bečić, Deputy Prime Minister, and Prof. Danas, a final institutional step in the realization of the initiative I officially submitted on the 1st was taken. I want every young person who one day steps into the Police Studies Faculty "Slavoljub Šćekić" to know whose name stands before them, concluded Bečić. The Minister of Education, Science, and Innovation emphasized: "The faculty, whose establishment is in preparation, will bear the name of Slavoljub Šćekić – a police officer who laid down his life in service of the state and citizens, fighting for a fairer, safer, and better Montenegro. This is not only a gesture of remembrance and respect for Slavoljub Šćekić but also a strong message to young people being educated at this institution – that honor, professionalism, courage, responsibility, and service to citizens are values that must form the foundation of their future vocation," she concluded. Minister Šaranović stated that Slavoljub Šćekić is not just a name from Montenegrin police history: "He is a symbol of a policeman who did not retreat from crime even when the cost of such decisiveness was the highest possible. Therefore, the future Police Studies Faculty should bear his name. In that fight, the only winner must be the state — a state that protects its citizens, the police profession, and every honorable officer," he concluded. Nenad Vojinović, Director of the Police Academy, emphasized: "We owe special thanks to Mrs. Slavica Šćekić, who is here with us today."
