Podgorica: Police identified and detained two minors suspected of two serious thefts committed on the beaches of the Cijevna River

Officers of the Podgorica Department of Security, while taking activities to resolve criminal acts, clarified two property crimes committed this month. Following identification and upon order of the competent state prosecutor, they detained two minors, aged 17, suspected of committing two serious thefts against two individuals – a foreign national and a Montenegrin citizen. Criminal investigation suggests that these minors, on June 12, 2026, entered the interior of a van owned by an Austrian citizen through a window at the Cijevna River beach, stole a MacBook laptop which they discarded into the river after realizing it was locked. Additionally, on June 19, 2026, they allegedly broke into a Mini Cooper vehicle owned by a resident of Podgorica at another Cijevna River beach, after breaking the glass, searched the vehicle, and then fled the scene. The minors will be brought before the state prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica with a special report, as a supplement to previously filed criminal charges against an unknown perpetrator, within the legal deadline.
