Ivanović: Montenegro and Armenia are connected by sincere friendship and shared values

On the occasion of Armenia's Independence Day, Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro for Foreign and European Affairs Dr. Filip Ivanović delivered a speech at the ceremonial reception. He reminded that Armenia is a land of ancient civilization and rich history, which has preserved its identity, language, and faith through centuries of challenges. Ivanović emphasized that independence is not only a legal act but also a lasting responsibility towards the state, citizens, and future generations, involving strong institutions, democracy, the rule of law, and human rights protection. He particularly welcomed Armenia's efforts toward democratic reforms and deepening relations with the European Union, noting that Montenegro, as the country most advanced in the EU accession process, is ready to share its experience and knowledge in reforms and alignment with European standards with Armenia. He also pointed out opportunities for concrete cooperation in areas such as economy and trade, tourism, information technology and innovation, education, culture, health, parliamentary diplomacy, and decentralized cooperation, including strengthening ties between Podgorica and Yerevan. In the context of global challenges, Ivanović reiterated Montenegro's support for dialogue, normalization of relations, and efforts aimed at achieving lasting, comprehensive, and sustainable peace in the South Caucasus, stating that peace is not just the absence of conflict but also trust, stability, development, and prospects for future generations. Finally, he expressed support for Armenia's European orientation and wished the Armenian people security and prosperity, with a message that Montenegro will continue to contribute to the development of friendly relations and concrete cooperation between the two countries.
