The Food Safety, Veterinary and Phytosanitary Administration has conducted six inspections of the “Naša Farma” pig farm in Spuž over the past six months, including three in the last ten days. To monitor the implementation of ordered measures, improve biosecurity conditions and verify the proper handling of dead animals, the Administration has planned intensive and enhanced inspections at the farm in the coming period. On [date] October at 12 p.m., a veterinary inspector established and photographed the condition of a pit containing pig carcasses, which was covered with plastic sheeting, a pallet and sheet metal, and ordered that it be filled in. The report recorded a statement by a farm representative that, during the previous evening, unknown persons had broken the fence, entered the farm, removed the plastic sheeting, pallet and sheet metal from the pit, and photographed the pig carcasses. According to the reviewed documentation, the removal of carcasses from the breeding, rearing and fattening facilities is carried out continuously and recorded, while carcasses from the farm are buried daily in accordance with the submitted procedure. The inspection report states that the procedure for handling carcasses is prescribed by the Veterinary Law and the Programme of Preventive Animal Health Protection Measures, and is aligned with subordinate legislation on infectious diseases.
