Call for Proposals for Commemorating Anniversaries in Collaboration with UNESCO
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) invites member states to submit proposals for commemorating historical events and anniversaries of prominent individuals who have made significant contributions in UNESCO's areas of action: education, natural and social sciences, culture, communication, and information. Each proposed anniversary must be clearly connected to the ideals and mission of the Organization in the fields of education, culture, natural sciences, social and human sciences, and communication, and should contribute to strengthening relations among peoples, tolerance, peace, cultural dialogue, and mutual understanding. The anniversary must be dedicated to persons of genuine universal significance, who can only be proposed posthumously, as well as to events of universal or at least regional importance that are undeniably known beyond their country of origin, reflecting the ideals, values, cultural diversity, and universality of the Organization. The anniversary should be a multiple of 50 years or 100 years, or their multiples, except for the least developed countries (LDCs), developing countries, countries in transition, and small island developing states (SIDS), as well as proposals promoting gender equality and the empowerment of prominent women, which may accept multiples of 25 years. Requests related to intangible cultural heritage—such as oral traditions and expressions, performing arts, social practices, festive events and rituals, knowledge and practices concerning nature and the universe, and traditional crafts—will not be considered, as they cannot be precisely dated. Proposals must be submitted electronically to tanja.muhadinovic@mku.gov.me. Additional information and the online application form are available at the Montenegrin National Commission for UNESCO's website. The Montenegrin National Commission reserves the right to review and evaluate all submissions in accordance with UNESCO's criteria and procedures.
