World Travel Awards held in Montenegro for the first time – prestigious tourism awards presented

Montenegro won the award for Europe’s Leading Nature Destination 2026, while Kotor and Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay were also among the winners. Montenegro hosted the prestigious World Travel Awards Europe ceremony for the first time, held last night at the Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay Resort. The event, which brought together leading representatives of the European tourism industry, was held in the country for the first time in the 33-year history of the World Travel Awards, one of the most respected international awards programmes in tourism. Particular satisfaction was expressed over Montenegro receiving the Europe’s Leading Nature Destination 2026 award, described as another in a series of international awards and nominations contributing to the country’s visibility and strengthening its reputation as a tourist destination. Ana Tripković Marković, director of the National Tourism Organisation of Montenegro (NTO CG), said that hosting the World Travel Awards ceremony is highly significant for Montenegro’s international promotion and positioning as a destination for MICE tourism. For this reason, NTO CG continuously supports the organisation of congresses and other business events through its incentive measures programme, seeking to further strengthen this segment of the tourism offering and contribute to extending the season, Tripković Marković said. Kotor was named Europe’s Leading Emerging Tourism Destination 2026, while the event’s host resort, Hyatt Regency Kotor Bay, celebrated three of its own World Travel Awards 2026 honours: Montenegro’s Leading Resort 2026, Montenegro’s Leading Beach Resort 2026 and Montenegro’s Leading Conference Hotel 2026.
