The Future of Philology in Focus at the International Conference at UDG

Ms. Tatjana Ćalasan, State Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, participated in the international panel conference "Philology in Transition: Education, Research, and Perspectives," organized to mark the 10th anniversary of the Faculty of Philology at the University of Donja Gora. Dr. Jelena Pralas from the UDG Faculty of Philology, together with Jelena Samardžić Kotri, Head of the Directorate for the Preparation of the Montenegrin Version of EU Legal Texts at the Ministry of European Affairs, emphasized that the future of philology is of particular importance to the Ministry, as it directly relates to the Education Reform Strategy 2025–2035, the process of European integration, and strengthening national capacities for translating EU legal texts. Exchange of experiences with colleagues from the region and Brazil provides the Ministry with concrete guidelines on which models of language and philology education to implement in Montenegro, as well as a basis for further cooperation between the UDG and UCG faculties of philology and similar institutions in the region. "Philology is not a discipline from the past but one of those fields that will shape our society most in the coming years: from the classroom to translating EU legal texts. Conversations with colleagues from the region show that we do not have to solve every challenge alone and that joint steps in language policy and education can lead us faster to results important for all our communities," stated Ms. Tatjana Ćalasan, State Secretary at the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation.
