Published Food Hygiene Regulation

In 2026, a Food Hygiene Regulation was adopted based on Article 35, paragraph 2 of the Food Safety Law. The regulation was published in the Official Gazette of Montenegro, number 91/2026, on the 29th. It prescribes general and specific hygiene requirements for entities involved in food business at all stages of production, processing, and distribution, including primary production. The regulation covers requirements related to facilities, premises, equipment, water and energy supply, waste management, thermal processing, packaging and labeling, personal hygiene, employee training, and food transportation. Provisions of Regulation (EC) No 852/2004 on food hygiene, along with all relevant amendments and supplements, have been incorporated into the national legislation through this regulation.
