Apple growers who did not perform chemical treatment according to previous recommendations must do so now
Regular inspection of traps for monitoring olive fly populations in the areas of Bar and Ulcinj (large olive groves area – Valdanos) was conducted on 03.08.2026. Flies were caught in McPhail traps at all sites except Bar 1. Laboratory examination of the fruits showed that active infestation was only not recorded at Bar 2. Infestation levels of 6.6% (all L1) were noted at Bar 3 and Valdanos 2, 10% (L1 and pupae) at Valdanos 3, and 13.3% (all L2) at Valdanos 4. The treatment is applied late in the evening when temperatures are below 25°C and can only be applied once during the vegetation period. As an alternative against adult flies (where infestation is still low or absent), Success Bait – spinosad with an attractant attracting adult flies – is recommended, applied to only one branch on the south side of each tree.
