Purchase of lamb surplus begins on September 21: agreed price of 4.75 euros per kilogram live weight

At today's meeting of the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Vladimir Joković with the Minister of Social Welfare, Family and Demography Damir Gutić, representatives of the Pension Fund, the Pensioners' Association, and the meat industry, the conditions for purchasing lamb surpluses from domestic farmers and selling lamb meat to pensioners were agreed upon. Starting September 21, at a price of 4.75 euros per kilogram live weight, while lamb meat for pensioners will be available at a price of 8.50 euros per kilogram. Following the agreement, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management announced a public call as soon as possible. The goal of the agreement is to enable the sale of surplus lambs from domestic farms, support the preservation of farmers' income and continued production, and provide pensioners with access to domestic lamb meat at the agreed price. Cooperation between the relevant institutions, the Pensioners' Association, and the meat industry represents an important step in resolving market surpluses and connecting domestic production with consumer needs. The Ministry will monitor the implementation of the purchase on the ground to ensure the execution of the agreed activities and support local livestock farmers.
