Meeting of the Commission for Monitoring the Implementation of the Action Plan for Applying the Recommendations of the UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Held

The Directorate for the Protection and Equality of Persons with Disabilities, in accordance with its responsibilities for chairing and coordinating the Commission for Drafting the Action Plan for Implementing the Recommendations of the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities for the period 2026–2030, held a meeting. The meeting took place as part of the Commission’s regular duties defined by the Action Plan and focused on reviewing the implementation of planned activities and monitoring progress in applying the Committee’s recommendations. Particular attention was paid to accessibility, one of the most challenging areas in implementing the recommendations and a fundamental prerequisite for exercising all other rights of persons with disabilities. Improving accessibility is a key step toward independent living, inclusion in education, the labour market and community life, and the full enjoyment of rights and freedoms guaranteed by international standards. Commission members also emphasized the need for and importance of continuous interinstitutional cooperation, information sharing and coordinated action by all relevant stakeholders to ensure the effective implementation of planned activities and further progress in advancing and protecting the rights of persons with disabilities. The Ministry of Human and Minority Rights will continue, through the work of the Commission and cooperation with the competent institutions and organizations, to monitor the implementation of activities set out in the Action Plan and contribute to the full application of international standards in the field of the rights of persons with disabilities, with the aim of building an inclusive society based on equality, respect for human rights and equal opportunities for all.
