The session aimed to familiarize NIJ employees with and raise their awareness of the new legal provisions in the field of personal data protection. The training covered several important topics, including the principles of personal data processing; the legal bases for processing; the rights of data subjects and the obligations of data controllers; data protection impact assessments; transfers of personal data to third parties; the confidentiality and security of personal data; and the management of security incidents. Practical aspects specific to the NIJ’s activities were also examined, with an emphasis on complying with personal data protection requirements in the performance of official duties.
