Radević: Montenegro’s Armed Forces strengthened with new firefighting equipment

As part of the final activities of the project “Mitigating Security Risks Related to SALW/SCA in Montenegro,” a meeting of the Strategic Board was held, chaired by State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Sandra Radević, with the attendance of the OSCE Ambassador and Head of Mission to Montenegro, Jan Haukaas. The meeting presented the results achieved and the remaining activities until the project’s planned completion at the end of 2026. Through cooperation between the Ministry of Defence and the OSCE Mission, the capacities of the Armed Forces of Montenegro were enhanced through the procurement of two specialised ADR vehicles worth more than €453,000 and firefighting equipment worth approximately €91,000. “The transfer of knowledge, expertise and good practices represents an equally important and lasting contribution, enabling us to further improve our own capacities and apply high safety standards in our daily work,” State Secretary Sandra Radević said. As part of the ongoing activities, a formal handover of the firefighting equipment was held at the “Knjaz Danilo Petrović Njegoš” military airfield, during which members of the Armed Forces of Montenegro demonstrated its use. The State Secretary thanked the OSCE Mission, donor countries and international partners for their contribution, stressing the importance of continuing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
