Bečić Meets with the Leadership of Montenegro’s Union of National Liberation War Veterans’ Organizations
Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Bečić met with the leadership of the Union of National Liberation War Veterans’ Organizations of Montenegro (SOBNOR), including President Radojica Radojević, Vice Presidents Ljubenko Borović and Aleksandar Maraš, and Secretary Radmila Čagorović. SOBNOR representatives thanked Bečić for the reception and open discussion, as well as for his respect for the veterans and their contribution, deeply woven into the country’s history. They emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of the participants in the National Liberation War and nurturing antifascist and freedom-loving values. They said they were closely following reforms in the security and defense sectors, along with the many results achieved through strengthening institutions, the vetting process, and the decisive fight against organized crime and corruption. “We congratulate you, as head of the sector, on the notable results you are achieving, which confirm your commitment to establishing a system in which no one is stronger than the state. This approach represents a fundamental struggle for justice, accountability, and strong institutions,” SOBNOR’s leadership said. Bečić stated that antifascism and the struggle for freedom are values deeply rooted in the people of Montenegro, and that it is the duty of every generation to preserve this heritage and pass it on to their descendants. The participants agreed that respect for those who won freedom also entails the responsibility to preserve and pass on to future generations the values for which they fought.
