Krapović and Teni: Stronger Alliance for a More Robust Collective Security

The minister emphasized that Montenegro is strongly committed to its European goal, but also continues to contribute to strengthening collective security and enhancing national defense capabilities as a reliable and credible NATO ally. He reminded his interlocutor that, through numerous defense projects with the United States, Montenegro has significantly modernized its defense capacities and improved military capabilities. In this regard, he informed the congresswoman about Montenegro's defense expenditure dynamics, highlighting that a significant portion of allocated funds is intended for the continuation of the modernization process of the Montenegrin Armed Forces. Congresswoman Teni confirmed the importance the United States attaches to stability in the Western Balkans and cooperation with Montenegro, assessing that Montenegro and the USA share common values and a commitment to a safe and prosperous Europe. She recalled that current geopolitical developments and modern security challenges require a stronger alliance, greater investments in defense, and continuous contributions from European allies to collective security, while maintaining strong transatlantic relations. They expressed mutual satisfaction with the opportunity to exchange views on further development of defense relations between the two countries and on the global security situation, confirming their readiness to continue and further enhance their intense cooperation.
