More than 2.2 million euros in non-repayable funds enable hotels across Montenegro to improve energy efficiency, Kordić announced a new support cycle

Tourism and energy, as two key economic sectors of Montenegro, continue joint activities to develop sustainable energy sources, improve energy efficiency, and protect the environment, aiming to strengthen the competitiveness of Montenegrin tourism and develop destinations year-round. Over 2.2 million euros in non-repayable funds, secured through partnerships between the Ministry of Tourism, the European Union, the Ministry of Energy and Mining, the Eco-fund, and other partners, have enabled hotels across Montenegro to invest in energy efficiency, reduce operating costs, and enhance the quality of the tourist offer. Additional incentives for the tourism industry will follow in September, when the Ministry of Tourism will announce a new public call worth 500,000 euros for improving energy efficiency in tourism, with more favorable conditions to enable greater participation by tourism entrepreneurs. Montenegro has the opportunity to build a sustainable and competitive energy system through renewable energy sources, harmonization with European legislation, and investments in new production capacities, which will strongly support economic and tourism development," said Šahmanović. "The Eco-fund has supported over 8,000 users through various programs, and investments in the tourism sector and energy efficiency projects create multiple benefits—from reducing energy consumption to fulfilling obligations on Montenegro's European path. During the event, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Tourism and Elektroprivreda Crne Gore, establishing a framework for promoting and enhancing the installation of solar photovoltaic systems in tourist facilities, with the aim of increasing energy efficiency, reducing operating costs, and strengthening the competitiveness of the tourism industry."
