Parliament Adopted Amendments to the Water Law

The Parliament of Montenegro adopted the Law on Amendments and Supplements to the Water Law. Montenegro has a huge water potential – over 20 billion cubic meters of water flow out of our territory annually. The adopted amendments further improve the water management system and align it with European standards and the EU Water Framework Directive. We must protect water and use it responsibly as one of the most important resources for Montenegro's future development – in agriculture, energy, tourism, and fisheries. Climate change and increasing fluctuations in water levels require more responsible water resource management, protection against droughts and floods, and ensuring water for all citizens.
