Three suspects for human trafficking involving a minor: arranged illegal marriage and then forced to sell marijuana in Ulcinj

In a joint operation by officers from the Ulcinj and Podgorica Security Departments, coordinated with the Higher State Prosecutor's Office in Podgorica, two individuals were detained on suspicion of arranging an illegal marriage to the detriment of a minor, and then forcing her to commit criminal activities - selling narcotics. Ulcinj police officers, through criminal investigation and measures within their jurisdiction, in coordination with the Higher State Prosecutor's Office, determined that G.I., born in [year], committed the criminal offense of human trafficking by arranging an illegal marriage between two minors, one of whom is their daughter, who was handed over to another family in Ulcinj for 3,000 euros. Crime police officers from the Ulcinj Security Department detected this form of crime during targeted controls in Ulcinj, when the minor victim of human trafficking was found on Mala Beach selling marijuana, which was confiscated. The police administration has prioritized the fight against human trafficking, with a special focus on timely recognition, identification, and protection of victims, especially minors, as a particularly vulnerable category, as well as on discovering and prosecuting all forms of their exploitation. The law recognizes various forms of exploitation, including forced labor, conditions similar to slavery, committing criminal acts, sexual exploitation, begging, and illegal marriage, with the exploitation of minors being identified as a particularly concerning form that requires additional protection due to their age and vulnerability.
