Vice President Bečić Congratulates July 13 – Statehood Day

July 13 – Statehood Day, the brightest date in our history, symbol of freedom, sovereignty, dignity, and unwavering spirit of the Montenegrin people. The thirteenth of July embodies two great historical vows. 148 years ago, at the Berlin Congress, Montenegro gained international recognition and confirmed its place among free and sovereign European states. On July 13, 1941, our people launched the first national uprising against fascism in enslaved Europe, demonstrating that freedom is not given but won through courage, sacrifice, and unwavering faith in justice. This continuous thread of struggle for freedom, from our ancestors to current generations, obliges us to build a state worthy of their sacrifice. Therefore, Montenegro's European path is not only a foreign policy goal but a natural continuation of our country's historical commitment to the space of freedom, democracy, rule of law, and shared European values. I am convinced that soon we will also achieve the culmination of this historic journey – Montenegro's membership in the European Union. This will not only be the success of one generation or government but the fulfillment of the dreams of many generations who fought for our country to be free, respected, and equal among European nations. At the same time, it is our duty to continue the decisive fight against organized crime and corruption, strengthen institutions, develop the economy, create new jobs, and ensure a dignified life for every person. With the hope that this great holiday will continue to unite all citizens around the values that connect us, I once again sincerely wish you a happy Statehood Day of Montenegro. Long live freedom, long live Europe, long live Montenegro!
