Public Call - Draft Proposal of the Law on Foreign Investment Screening

In accordance with Article 12 of the Regulation on the Selection of NGO Representatives in the Bodies of the Public Administration and Public Consultation in the Preparation of Laws and Strategies (Official Gazette of Montenegro, No. 41/18), the Ministry of Economic Development invites authorities, organizations, associations, and individuals (hereinafter: interested public) to participate in the preparation process by submitting their initiatives, proposals, suggestions, and comments in written and electronic form to the Ministry at Rimski trg 46, Podgorica, or via email to igor.vucinic@mek.gov.me and marko.savkovic@mek.gov.me. The Government of Montenegro has assessed that establishing a mechanism for foreign investment screening is necessary to protect security and public order, as well as to further align Montenegro with the legal acquis of the European Union. The Government has tasked the Ministry of Economic Development, in cooperation with competent authorities, to prepare the Draft Law on Foreign Investment Screening based on the best practices of the European Union within 18 months from the adoption of these conclusions. Public consultations on the Draft Law will last for 15 days from the date of this call's publication. The Ministry of Economic Development will consider all received initiatives, proposals, suggestions, and comments when drafting the Draft Law on Foreign Investment Screening.
