The beginning of Ibrahimović's visit to Washington marked by meetings with U.S. Congress representatives and the International Republican Institute

Ibrahimović thanked Congressman Tarner for his exceptional dedication and leadership of the Montenegrin Caucus in the U.S. Congress, as well as for his overall contribution to improving bilateral relations between the two countries. He particularly highlighted Tarner's strong support during Montenegro's NATO accession process, emphasizing that this contribution has had a lasting impact on strengthening the transatlantic position. The Minister also expressed gratitude for the initiative to submit a resolution to the House of Representatives affirming U.S. support for Montenegro's accession to the European Union. The interlocutors agreed on continuing to strengthen the Montenegrin Caucus in the U.S. Congress, which would further increase Montenegro's visibility among American lawmakers, improve communication and coordination, and open space for more intensive cooperation in areas of mutual interest. Additionally, they welcomed the strong U.S. focus on the Western Balkans and expressed satisfaction that the signing of the Intergovernmental Agreement between the United States and Montenegro on cooperation in implementing strategic projects (G2G) is expected soon, which will open new opportunities for enhancing bilateral cooperation. Ibrahimović expressed hope that the International Republican Institute will continue to support democratic reforms in Montenegro through its regional office, noting that ongoing cooperation will be particularly important for strengthening institutional resilience, the rule of law, and democratic political culture. The interlocutors agreed that strong democratic institutions, the rule of law, and ongoing reform processes are the best foundation for Montenegro's further progress on its European path and for further improving partnership with the U.S.
