Person from Serbia Detained for Illegal Border Crossing and Unauthorized Stay in Montenegro; Convicted of Murder in Serbia
As part of intensified efforts to maintain a stable security environment in the country, police officers identified and detained a Serbian citizen who illegally crossed the border and was suspected of planning serious crimes with another individual. During operations in Podgorica, the police stopped and checked the Serbian citizen S.V., who was found to have illegally entered Montenegro and stayed unlawfully. He is listed in Serbian criminal records for a murder conviction, for which he was sentenced to prison but has not served the full term and is currently on parole. He was detained for violating the Foreigners Law and was sentenced to 18 days in prison by a misdemeanor judge in Podgorica. After serving his sentence, police will undertake further measures, including deportation and returning him to Serbian authorities.
