Borovinić Bojović in Pisa: Donations and specialization training in focus of future cooperation

On the second day of her working visit to the Republic of Italy, Deputy Prime Minister of Montenegro for the health system and social care Dr. Jelena Borovinić Bojović visited the Cisanello University Hospital in Pisa, where she was hosted by the hospital director Katia Belvedere and Professor Roberto Cioni, a specialist in interventional radiology. During the visit, the capacities of this significant Italian university hospital were presented, as well as opportunities to enhance cooperation with the Montenegrin health system through professional collaboration, education of healthcare workers, and a substantial donation of modern medical equipment. Special importance is given to cooperation in the field of interventional radiology, which, through the application of modern minimally invasive procedures, enables treatment of complex conditions, stopping life-threatening bleeding, and in some cases, preserving organs and limbs. The Montenegrin delegation visited the robotic surgical center, where modern models of multidisciplinary team work and the application of advanced technologies in radiology and surgery were presented, including 3D reconstructions, artificial intelligence, procedure navigation systems, and robotic surgery. Cisanello University Hospital represents an important link between healthcare, education, and scientific research, with developed programs for specialist training, clinical research, and the application of modern medical technologies. Such cooperation aligns with Montenegro's European integration efforts and the goal to further harmonize the domestic healthcare system with European standards, practices, and modern treatment models, through strengthening institutions, professional capacities, and the quality of healthcare.
