Jakšić-Stojanović: MPNI applied for a non-repayable 15 million dollars from the Adaptation Fund
The Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, in cooperation with UNICEF and World Bank experts, with the support of the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Development, prepared a project proposal applying for non-repayable funds from the Adaptation Fund in the amount of 15 million US dollars. If approved, the funds would be available during 2027. The project aims to strengthen the resilience of the education system to climate change by improving the quality of educational infrastructure, including the arrangement of school yards and equipping classrooms, as well as implementing a comprehensive set of activities focused on teacher training, and developing textbooks and teaching materials in this area. Minister Jakšić-Stojanović emphasized: "Besides directly contributing to creating quality educational infrastructure resistant to external climate risks, the implementation of this project would be of great importance for raising environmental awareness, developing the so-called Adaptation Fund, established to support projects and programs that contribute to mitigating the negative effects of climate change in the signatory countries of the Kyoto Protocol. Since its establishment, the Fund has allocated over 1.39 billion US dollars for projects and programs for climate change adaptation and strengthening resilience to their consequences."
