Vice President Ivanović met with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Montenegro, Edgar Alfred Gansen
Vice President Ivanović welcomed the ambassador, emphasizing that Montenegro highly values its good relations with Germany as one of its key European partners and a strong advocate of the European perspective of the Western Balkans. He assessed that Montenegro has a clear European perspective and expressed Germany's readiness to continue supporting its efforts in the EU accession process. In this context, he highlighted recent statements by Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz regarding Montenegro as a country nearing the final stages of European integration and potentially becoming the next member of the European Union. Additionally, the ambassador expressed his willingness to contribute during his term to further strengthen political dialogue and cooperation between the two countries, noting that there is room for additional contact and concrete cooperation in areas of mutual interest. They exchanged views on cooperation in multilateral formats and regional issues, agreeing that Montenegro and Germany share an interest in preserving peace, stability, and the European perspective of the Western Balkans. At the end of the meeting, Vice President Ivanović wished the ambassador Gansen good luck and success in his work, expressing confidence that his mandate will further encourage the improvement of friendly relations and partnership between Montenegro and Germany.
