Ibrahimović in Luxembourg: Montenegro closes three more negotiating chapters and further strengthens its path to the EU

Progress in these areas is important for improving economic governance, strengthening the reliability and quality of official statistics, and developing policies that contribute to higher employment, greater social security, and a better quality of life for citizens. The outcome of the Intergovernmental Conference confirms that Montenegro is diligently fulfilling its obligations under the European agenda as a strategic foreign-policy priority, and that its commitment to reforms is being translated into measurable results. This significant step forward was achieved on the heels of the successful Berlin Process Ministerial Meeting recently held in Pržno, reaffirming the importance of regional cooperation and joint action in realizing the Western Balkans’ European perspective. In the final stage of the negotiations, it is particularly important to continue intensive cooperation with the institutions of the European Union and its member states, while maintaining the momentum of reform activities and consistently fulfilling the remaining obligations. Following today’s Intergovernmental Conference, Montenegro has 12 negotiating chapters remaining, meaning that it continues to make progress in the accession negotiations and is moving closer to achieving its strategic foreign-policy goal. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue intensive diplomatic communication with European allies in order to conclude the final phase of the negotiating process and secure a European future for all citizens of Montenegro.
