Maritime Safety Agency Participated in International Exercise 'POLex 2026' in Slovenia
In September in Koper, Slovenia, at the international marine pollution response exercise 'POLex 2026', the second exercise within the framework of the ASAP (Adriatic Sensitive Areas Protection Mechanism) project, implemented through the Interreg IPA ADRION program. The exercise simulated an oil spill in the northern Adriatic, aiming to test operational capacities, standard procedures, and cross-border coordination. It gathered national maritime authorities and European agencies, including EMSA, EFCA, and Frontex, while the operational part of the exercise involved deploying and connecting barriers for pollution protection. The ASAP project, funded by the European Union, unites partners from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Italy, Montenegro, and Slovenia, based on the principle that marine pollution knows no borders.
